Show Your Heart Blog Hop – Dec 2018

Today I have a very special card created for a very special reason. Today I’m blog hopping with other Stampin’ Up!® Demonstrators to raise awareness of Congenital Heart Disease (CHD) and to raise funds for HeartKids.

HeartKids is a charity that focuses on funding the research, information and care that provide constant support of children, families and adults from diagnosis all the way through their life journey with CHD. 

Here is the card I created for this blog hop. Our theme is love:

Love to me means lots of things, and I just love wishing people a lovely day. I thought that this card would be fun to try out new up coming products from the Occasions Catalogue – the Forever Lovely bundle, the stamp set I got at OnStage last month. This bundle is perfect for any loved themed projects.

I want to share with you all now some facts about CHD so that you understand why I’ve chosen to support HeartKids:

Approximately half of the children diagnosed with heart disease require surgery to correct it.

Four young lives a week lost.

HeartKids provides lifelong support for heart kids and their families.

I created the background of this card with the Bokeh Technique, but with a twist. Instead of using White Craft ink for the circles on top, I used the Frost White Shimmer Paint.

The Bokeh Technique starts with adding colour to your cardstock. I sponged three colours on – Bermuda Bay, Berry Burst and Gorgeous Grape. Then using a circle template (create this yourself by cutting circles from a piece of vellum cardstock) start creating circles on the card at random in different sizes. It’s important to overlap them to create the Bokeh look.

HeartKids is one of my chosen charities because I am very good friends with a family who’s youngest child is a Heart Baby. Hamish by the age of 18 months had three open heart surgeries. I just cannot imagine how difficult that all could be! HeartKids have supported Hamish and his family through it all.

We have started a fundraising page for HeartKids’ fundraising event Show Your Heart 2019. Please if you are able donate to this amazing organisation so that they can help fund more research to find a cure to CHD.
