I’m really excited to be sharing with you today’s blog. You may have come to my blog from Cheryl Hamilton in the USA or have come straight here. Every month Kylie Bertucci a fellow Stampin’ Up!® demonstrator holds an International Blog Highlights. Anyone can join as long as you use current Stampin’ Up! products and then you vote for your top favourites. Last month I participated, though my card didn’t get into the top ten Kylie did choose mine as her special pick!!! As a result I get to blog hop today with the winners!!
For the International Blog Highlights in May 2018 we were asked to create a card of Encouragement to CEO of Stampin’ Up! Sara Douglass. Here is the card I made:
For the Winners Blog Hop our theme again is Encouragement but we get to choose the recipient. I had so much trouble really thinking of someone to choose. Not because I couldn’t think of anyone to encourage but more because I think we all need a bit of encouragement from time to time. After a lot of thought I decided the recipients would all be friends of mine who are mothers. Motherhood is quite challenging and I’m in awe of these three mums because their challenges are greater with added health issues.
As I don’t want to openly blog about people without their consent I will just briefly describe each wonderful mum. Firstly I’m sending a card to a friend who I’ve know for quite some time, she has a daughter my son’s age and she is so warm and sweet. Recently she has been diagnosed with MS and I cannot imagine what it would be like to know your own health is so fragile but still need to be there for your child.
My second friend is never without a smile, she is bright and bubbly and has been there for me when I’ve needed it the most. She has two boys about the same ages as my kids, but her youngest has chromosome 18 abnormality. He is an amazing kid with such a personality, clearly takes after his mum.
The third card I will send to a new friend who has a daughter in my son’s class and they both have a hereditary condition called Ehler-Danios Syndrome. It’s quite a debilitating condition, despite this when I had a bit of a head cold she would message me to see how I’m going! What an incredible and thoughtful person.
The cards I’ve created were inspired by a recent Artisan Blog Hop, I loved how Jessica Winter had a black, grey and white theme with some pink. Here are the cards I created for these three amazing women:
To create these cards:
- Prepare card bases in Whisper White Thick card stock.
- Cut card fronts from Whisper White card stock, I had one at 100mm x 143.5mm and two at 90mm x 133.5mm
- Onto the silicone mat press the Lovely Lipstick ink pad to put some ink onto the mat. Then scoop up some Shimmery White Embossing Paste onto the mat and mix into the ink. I tried to mix the ink unevenly so that there was variation in colour. TIP if you would like a light colour press the ink pad lightly. Alternatively you can use Ink Refil.
- Using the Pattern Party Decorative Masks and a Palette knife spread the embossing paste onto the card fronts. I had two having a rustic look and the third I covered the mask to the edge.
- Set aside the card fronts to dry.
- Stamp full one large and two small orchids onto Whisper White card stock in Basic Gray. Then cut them out using the Orchid Builder Framelits and the Big Shot.
- Using the Big Shot cut the word Amazing from the Celebrate You Thinlit in the Sparkle Glimmer Paper.
- Using a Sponge Brayer in Lovely Lipstick colour the “amazing” word cut outs. The more you roll over them the darker the colour will be.
- On a 30mm wide strip of Whisper White card stock adhere the “amazing” to the bottom so that some of the word is hanging off the edge. I did this on two strips, for the third card I stamped directly onto the card front. I found using the Fine-Tip Glue Pen was the best for this.
- Stamp onto the same strip as above the words “You Are” using the alphabet letters from the Pick A Pennant stamp set.
- To assemble the card:
- Add Stampin’ Dimenstionals to the back of the card front and adhere to the card base.
- Using Multipurpose Liquid Glue adhere the “You Are Amazing” to the card front.
- Attach the orchids using Glue Dots.
I know that these cards will encourage and let my wonderful friends know how much I admire them and how amazing they really are!
Next on this blog hop is Dianne Keough from the USA. Enjoy hopping!
