I’m writing this blog post after a huge weekend which ended wonderfully because I was able to craft! I created a set of cards which are being entered into two design challenges. It’s been a while since I’ve attempted a challenge and I had so much fun entering. The first is the Global Design Project 191 Theme Challenge: Bees, Birds & Butterflies and the second TGIF Challenge 214: Create a Set.
The inspiration for these challenges actually came from my trip to Hobbiton Movie set which I visited the day before OnStage 2019 Auckland NZ. I snapped a picture of a butterfly on a daisy and I thought this would be fun to create a card with that concept. I hadn’t had a chance to do so and the GDP challenge came up! Here is my card:

The easiest way to turn a single card into a set is to repeat the layout and change the colours. This is what I did choosing a monochromatic colour scheme using purples.
The colours I used from left to right are: Blackberry Bliss, Rich Razzleberry, Gorgeous Grape, Highland Heather and new InColor Purple Posy.
Tips for making this card:
- Sponge on the colour onto the daisy stamp just into the centre to create the centre only look.
- Use your Bone Folder to curve up the tips of the daisy after punching to make them more textile.
- Add some Shimmer Paint to the small butterflies to give them some bling and make them look more like embellishments than die cuts.
I really love how this set has turned out!
As I like to do, I created coordinating envelope. I matched each envelope by colour to the card it belonged to.
Thank you for visiting my blog! I hope that I’ve inspired you to be creative.
Bye for now!

Beautiful work, Tatiana! I would love to case your idea in yellows if you don’t mind. MY SIL is about to start chemo and yellow is her favorite color. I think this set would make a great gift for her so she would have cards to mail out as needed. Thanks so much for sharing!
Hi Kathy! Thank you for commenting on my blog post. So sorry to hear about your SIL. What a wonderful idea making her a set of cards to have. Yellow is a bright and happy colour!
So cool!!! I love all your monochromatic cards in shades of purple. They are just gorgeous! Thanks for joining TGIF Challenges this week!
Thank you Tami!
May I ask how you did the daisies? Did you use Versamark and clear embossing powder to heat emboss each one, then punch them out, then put them together and then sponge on the color? They are so striking!
Hi Julie-Anne! Thank you for visiting my blog. There’s no Versamark involved in this Card. Simply sponge ink only into the centre of the Daisy stamp and stamp. I did this twice for each colour. Then punch out the Daisies.
