Hello everybody!
Welcome to my blog. During World Card Making Day Stampin’ Up!® hosted a free virtual event for demonstrators and customers. During this event there was so much creative inspiration. One presentation particularly stood out to me. Cory showed a fabulous watercolour block technique and I just HAD to try it out. What do you think of the results?

Basic White Card Details:
- Card Base: Pool Party
- Card Front: Basic White (10 x 14.35 cm)
- Card Insert: Basic White (10 x 14.35 cm)
- On a scrap piece of Basic White stamp the Puffin with the party hat and fussy cut out around it.
- Take your card front and place the fussy cut Puffin where you would like it to be.
- Using Stampin’ Write Markers of your choice colour a Clear Block D. I used Pool Party, Calypso Coral, and Pale Papaya – colours from the Fine Sparkle Adhesive Backed Gems. Then spritz the surface of the block 3 times with water using the Stampin’ Spritzer.
- Place the block with the ink onto your cardstock over the fussy cut out Puffin and press down. Then lift, remove the fussy cut Puffin and line up and press down again to transfer any remaining colour. Allow the cardstock to dry.
- This creates a wonderful watercolour background with a gap where the Puffin will go. Each time you do this it comes out differently.
- Once the card front is dry stamp the Puffin into the gap using Tuxedo Black Memento Ink.
- Adhere to the card base and finish off by stamping the sentiment in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink and adding Fine Sparkle Adhesive Backed Gems.
Pool Party Card Details:
- Card Base: Pool Party
- Stamping Cardstock: Basic White (9 x 8 cm)
- Card Insert: Basic White (10 x 14.35 cm)
- To create this card follow the instructions above, but this time fussy cut out the watercolour background with the Puffin and adhere that to the card base using Stampin’ Dimensionals
I love how each time you do this it turns out unique. I made quite a few because it was so much fun! You can re-use the fussy cut out Puffin (mask) a number of times. If you let it dry then you can use it more times too!
Card projects are not complete till you stamp the envelope and the inside of the card. I did this with the same Party Puffin image.
