Hello everybody!
Welcome to my blog. Today’s post is a very special one. Some Artisan Alumni friends and I have wanted to do a tribute to the late Queen Elizabeth II. She was such an inspiration to many. For us as creators, one of the things that really stood out were all the colourful outfits Her Majesty would wear. Taking inspiration from her wardrobe we have created projects using specific colours and cover the spectrum. I choose to look at blues flowing into purples. Here’s the card I created:
Here is the collection of projects from some Artisan Alumni. How beautiful do they look all together:
I decided to use the “Thank You So Much” sentiment on my card because Queen Elizabeth devoted her life to the Commonwealth.
Card Details:
- Card Base: Orchid Oasis cardstock
- Card Front: Basic White cardstock (13.85 x 9.5 cm) and Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper (13.55 x 9.2 cm)
- Card Insert: Basic White cardstock (14.35 x 10 cm)
- I started by creating the watercolour background. For this I used the full sheet of Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper. I watered down Starry Sky, Orchid Oasis, and Gorgeous Grape inks and brushed each one on layer by layer, heat setting it using the Heat Tool. I would make sure the colours would overlap. By heat setting each layer the ink lines form. Once dry, splat with Wink Of Stella. Trim down to size.
- Stamp the floral image from Hand-Penned Petals stamp set onto Basic White cardstock and then die cut with coordinating die from Penned Flowers Dies.
- Stamp the sentiment “Thank you so much” from Inspired Thoughts stamp set onto Basic White cardstock and then die cut using the banner die from Stylish Shapes Dies.
- To assemble the card I added a strip of the Metallic Mesh Ribbon over the watercolour background. Over it a piece of Vellum die cut with a Scalloped Contours Die. The Sentiment and then the flowers on top.
- To finish I added some Iridescent Rhinestones Basic Jewels.
Inside the card I stamped the same floral image and then added a strip of the cut off from the watercolour background. I didn’t want to waste that pretty paper! On the envelope I stamped the flowers to sit underneath the flap.

Bye for now!
