Pascha (Easter) is my most favourite time of year. For me its even better than Christmas. In Russian Orthodox tradition and many other Eastern Orthodox traditions we bake special Easter cakes to eat during our Pascha celebrations. This special cake in Russian is called a Kulich. We only eat it during the Pascha season and I just love it. Without it we cannot celebrate Pascha. We decorate our kulich and take it to church in a basket with some coloured eggs to have blessed. Here’s a photo of our kulich from last year:
At the start of Great Lent this year I couldn’t help to start thinking about Pascha cards that I may like to make for my family and friends. This got me thinking about the kulichi (plural of kulich) that we would be making and how it would be pretty neat to make cards with a kulich. Inspiration then hit me. I thought of a way to use the Cool Treats Stamp Set to create my very own stamped kulich. Combined wit the Basket Bunch Stamp Set. I could not rest till I tried this out. Here is what I came up with on my first session, I couldn’t decide what background was best: Whisper White or Crumb Cake:
If you follow me on Facebook you may have already seen these pictures. I was so in decisive that I reached out to my followers. Overwhelmingly the answer was Crumb Cake background was the preferred option. I was surprised by this but I also think that perhaps the photos aren’t the best in showing the true colour of the cardstock. Photographing cards this week has been difficult with the rainy and overcast weather. I don’t have any studio lights and rely on good natural light.
I decided to make the card in both Whisper White and Crumb Cake. Then I though I should try Shimmery White. Once I finished that I thought what about Very Vanilla?!?! Well here are all four variations, which one do you prefer? Unfortunately the photos do not do them justice as three of them look the same, but honestly I did change the cardstock. I will have to learn more about lighting and photographing in the very near future.
During the Pascha season instead of saying hello as a greeting we say “Christ is Risen!” and respond “Truly, He is Risen”. That is why I have stamped Christ is Risen on the cards.
Happy Stamping Adventure,

They’re are all lovely but honestly the white appear more pure and crisp with the sentiment.
We say, Christ is Risen! And respond, He is Risen indeed!
That is how we celebrate Easter but it doesn’t include eggs. 🙂

That’s how we celebrate His resurrection. 🙂
Thank you Kelea for reading. Whisper White cardstock is my favourite version of this card too! There are many variations in the response, all the same message 🙂
