My mama’s favourite colour is orange. I don’t actually know why! I remember growing up with our counter stools were orange and the dinning room chair cushions orange! I look at old photos from the 80s and see there was a lot of orange in the background. I never got it, still don’t, but since it’s Mother’s Day coming up I thought I would make mama and orange card. Mama also likes flowers. Orange Floral card became my theme.
My mother has always been mama, with the emphasis on the first ‘a’. My husband’s maternal grandmother is Mama with the emphasis on the second ‘a’. This was a great opportunity to make them both a Mother’s Day Card.
To create these cards:
- Take a piece of Watercolor Paper 143.5mm by 100mm and using the Ink Smoothing technique colour it using Peekaboo Peach and then Pumpkin Pie.
- Once Watercolor paper is dry stamp the little flowers from the Love What You Do stamp set in Pumpkin Pie. I stamped off onto the watercolour paper to get various depths of orange flowers.
- Repeat the stamping again but the second time using Whisper White Craft Ink. This gives the paper a bit more textural colour variation.
- Using a Big Shot cut out the letter ‘M’ and ‘A’ twice each to form the word Mama. OR you can do Mum, Mom, Ma, or which ever short word you wish. Keep the letters and the little pieces that come from the inside of the ‘A’.
- Prepare who card bases using Shimmery White card stock.
- Take one of the prepared card bases and adhere the full sheet of Watercolour Paper without the letters so that the word is white from the Shimmery White card stock. Glue down also the little triangle from the inside of the ‘A’.
- I’ve stamped in Basic Black ink “Happy Mother’s Day” from the Thoughtful Banners stamp set.
- Attach some Basic Pearl Jewels to the card to add something special to it.
- Using the second prepared card base adhere the letters using Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals.
- Stamp using Basic Gray ink “Happy Mother’s Day” from the Thoughtful Banners stamp set.
- Attach some Basic Pearl Jewels to the card to add something special to it.
- Using the flowers from the Love What You Do stamp set, stamp along the top and bottom stamping off to get a monochromatic floral boarder. I used Pumpkin Pie.
- You can stamp the envelopes too with the flowers.
Quickly you have made two cards for two special people! It’s the first year we are sending a card to hubby’s maternal grandmother for Mother’s Day. I’m sure she will love the thought.
Thank you for visiting my blog! I hope that I’ve inspired you to be creative.
Bye for now!
